On March 21st, a group of Gloucester citizens gathered in the Court House area, at the statue of the Princess Pocahontas, daughter of Chief Powhatan, to commemorate her death in the year 1616/17. The Princess Pocahontas is very important in our history, she is responsible for saving the English settlers from starvation, by bringing them corn and other edibles.

Some of the Gloucester citizens in attendance were Rev. Bill West of Severn Church, the Rev.. Gayle and his wife of Zion Poplars Church, former commander of Special forces- Col. Buck Burruss, Clerk of the Court Cathy Dale, P&R Director Katey Legg, memors of Zion Poplars Church, Dr. Walter Clemons, Superintendent of Gloucester Public Schools, Speaker Kenny Richardson, and members of the Gloucester Supervisors and School Board and representative of the Homeschooling Association Emma and Corey Chapman of Gloucester.
